In Amble West Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

N.G. Riddell
Wireless Operator
Royal Air Force
20th December 1940 age 21

There is also a shield-shaped plaque which reads:

In
loving memory of
Sergt.
Norman Grey Riddell
R.A.F.
killed on active service
Dec. 20th 1940
aged 21 years.

Sgt (Wireless Operator) N G Riddell (Service Nš 616809) of 206 Sqn, Coastal Command, was lost when his Lockheed Hudson I N7333 VX-E crashed shortly after take off from RAF Bircham Newton on December 20th 1940. He is buried in Amble West Cemetery.
