Tate, J.N.B., Sgt.Pt., 1941
In Schiermonnikoog (Vredenhof) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 912606 Sergeant (Pilot) John Nicholas Bailey Tate, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 25/07/1941.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt Tate, of 83 squadron, was killed when Handley Page Hampden I AD835 AL-G was shot down by a night-fighter. It had been on a bombing mission to Hannover, and was shot down at 03.57 by the Luftwaffe pilot Lt. Lothar Linke, of II./NJG1. The pilot of the Hampden survived to be taken prisoner, but the other three crew, including Sgt Tate, were killed.
