Field, C., Sgt., 1943
On the Malta Memorial is the name 1070071 Sergeant Cyril Field, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 22/03/1943.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt Field was killed in Catalina Ib FP154 DA-D of 210 Squadron, which crashed in Tonel Bay, near Sagres, Portugal, on an anti-submarine patrol from Gibraltar. The Catalina had been recalled from its mission, but in misty conditions narrowly avoided flying into houses near Sagres, stalled and crashed into the sea.
