On the Helles Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/2050 Able Seaman John Smith, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 04/06/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

John was born on May 7th 1896. He was working as a draughtsman living with his father, Ernest at 112, Middle Street, Walker, Newcastle upon Tyne when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on November 28th 1914.

John was posted to the 4th Platoon, "D" Company of the Collingwood Battalion and went missing, assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on June 4th 1915.
