Stanley, R.L., F/Off., 1944
In Den Bommel General Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 176376 Flying Officer (Pilot) Raymond Louis Stanley, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 06/10/1944.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

F.Officer Stanley was the pilot aboard Handley Page Halifax III LL588 EY-O of 78 Squadron, which was lost on a mission to Scholver-Buer. The Halifax collided in mid-air with another 78 Sqn Halifax, MZ310 EY-U, and both crashed on or near the Dutch island of Overflakkee, south-west of Rotterdam. All 15crew from both aircraft lost their lives.
