Creer, S., Cpl. awarded M.M. 1916
The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 28/12/1916 reports:

Military Medal presentation at Lemington.

A crowded gathering took place last night at the Co-operative Hall, Lemington, when Corpl. Stanley Creer, N.F., was decorated with the Military Medal awarded him by the King for bravery as despatch rider on the battlefield. Councillor R. Lowes presided, and was supported by Mr. W.J. Noble (Denton Hall), Mr. E.G. Price, Mr. R. Redhead, Jun. ,and others. An attractive musical programme was furnished by Messrs. Ellershaw and Hall (vocalists), Mr. Ford (pianist) and Mr. Donaldson (violinist. At an interval in the programme Mr. Price decorated Corporal Creer with the medal, and afterwards handed him a purse of god from Lemington Welcome Home Fund and a gold watch and an albert from Lemington and Sugley Old Boys' Club. The recipient briefly thanked the donors for their gifts. Mr. Noble gave a short address, and moved a vote of thanks to Mr. Price and the chairman.
