In Tyne Cot Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of 2840 Lance Corporal William Bell, serving with the Northumberland Fusiliers who died 23/05/1915.

Ron Carson has provided the following:

William was born in 1855 at Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of William of 62 Elswick East Terrace, Newcastle (formerly of 72 Rye Hill, Newcastle).

William enlisted at Newcastle with the 2nd Battalion, Northumberland Fusiliers and was taken a prisoner of war in May 1915. He died of wounds in Germany and was identified by his German Grave number 65 at Ehreneriedof German Military Cemetery, Staden. William was re-interred at Tyne Cot Cemetery.
