Sgt. Kennedy was serving with 17 O.T.U. (Operation Training Unit). He was a crew member of Wellington X LP306 which took off from Turweston on a local flying training exercise. It overshot the runway and crashed whilst going round again for a second landing attempt. All the crew died.
