F/O Sweetman was serving with 608 Squadron. He was a crew member of Mosquito XX KB261 GT-D which took off from Downham Market on a mission to Wilhelmshaven. On the return the aircraft dived into the ground killing both crew members.
His D.F.M. had been gazetted on 5th February 1943.
