Pilot Officer Daniel was serving with 18 Squadron. He was a crew member of Blenheim IV T2038 WV-M which took off from Boscombe Down on a mission to Lorient. The aircraft crashed in Lincolnshire on the return journey.

This was the same incident in which P/Off. Pilot Off. Cowings was killed.
