Taylor, A., L.Cpl., 1917
In Newcastle West Road Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of CH/1036(S) Lance Corporal Albert Taylor, serving with the Royal Marine Light Infantry, who died 21/06/1917.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Albert was the son of Margaret Taylor of 68, Prospect Place, Newcastle upon Tyne. He enlisted in the Royal Marines on September 29th 1915.

He embarked for the Mediterranean with the RM Brigade on February 16th 1916 and later served in France with the 1st RM Battalion. Albert was invalided to the UK on May 15th 1917 suffering from gun shot wounds to his arms and right leg which fractured his femur.

Albert died in the 5th London General Hospital on June 21st 1917 from the effects of his wounds complicated by Septicaemia.
