The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 03/01/1916 reports:

Military Wedding in Newcastle
At the Jesmond Parish Church, Newcastle, on Saturday, the marriage was solemnised, by he Rev. Canon Inskip, of Corporal G.T. Veitch, DCM., RAMC, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Veitch, of 37 Leazes Terrace, Newcastle, to Miss Margaret Patterson. The bride, who was given away by her brother-in-law, Mr. Jack Charlton, wore a mole costume, trimmed with fur and pink hat trimmed with pink silk.

Miss Lena Patterson (sister of the bride) was the bridesmaid, and she was dressed in a heliotrope costume and black hat, with red berries. The best man was Mr. Joseph Simpson (brother-in-law of the bride). Following the wedding, a reception was held, after which the happy couple left for Ferry Hill, Darlington, for their honeymoon.

The wedding was very quiet, but there were a few of Lord Derby’s men present. Corporal Veitch is to leave England for the front on the 27th inst.
