In Newcastle-Upon-Tyne (St. John's Westgate and Elswick) Cemetery is a headstone which reads:

Peace perfect peace
In
Loving Memory
of
James Lewis,
the dearly beloved son of
Robert James and Annie
Lewis,
who was accidentally
killed on H.M.S. Hercules,
on March 20th 1916,
in his 19th years.
Also the above
Robert James Lewis
beloved husband of
Annie Lewis
died July 18th 1929
aged 60 years.
Also Annie,
beloved wife of the above
Robert James
died Dec. 22nd 1946,
aged 80 years.Also their beloved son
Sidney Baden Lewis
died June 2nd 1955
aged 55 years.
dear daughter Lily
died Feb. 19th 1970.

Erected
in affectionate remembrance of our dear shipmate
by the ship's company of H.M.S. Hercules Grand Fleet
March 1916.
He nobly answered his country's call.
