Arthur James was born at Newcastle upon Tyne in the fourth quarter of 1892, the son of Esther (nee Harle) and the late John William Lowrey, 64 Kingsley Terrace, Newcastle. According to the 1911 Census, Arthur was living at 72 Croydon Road, Elswick, with his family and was employed as a Tailor’s Apprentice. He enlisted at Newcastle and served with the 16th Battalion and died at home.
