Robert William was born at Newcastle upon Tyne, in the first quarter of 1887, the son of Thomas and Ellen (nee Fairbridge), He married Ellen (nee Wood) at Newcastle in the fourth quarter of 1911 and they lived at 6 Westmorland Lane, Newcastle.
Robert served with the 11th Infantry Labour Company.
