Taylor, A., L/Smn., 1917
On the Arras Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/92 Leading Seaman Arthur Taylor, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 24/04/1917.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Arthur was born on 7th August 1888. He was working as a labourer living with his wife, Christiana at 11, Shipley Street, Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne when, due to previous service in the Northumberland Fusiliers and the RNVR, he re-enlisted in the RNVR on 11th September 1914.

After serving at home Arthur was drafted to the Howe Battalion in France on 22nd March 1917 and was killed in action on 24th April 1917.

Arthur Taylor is remembered in Byker on B95.01
