Kirsopp, G.A., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of KP/980 Able Seaman George Albert Kirsopp, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 06/05/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

George was born on 21st July 1893 and was working as a labourer living with his father, George at 98, Clifford Street, Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 3rd September 1914. He transferred to the RNVR on 10th September 1914 and joined the Anson Battalion on 1st March 1915. George was posted as wounded and missing assumed killed in action in Gallipoli on 6th May 1915.

George Albert Kirsopp is remembered in Byker on B95.26
