On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1113420 Sergeant Edward Haville, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve, of 408 (R.C.A.F.) Squadron, who died 19/07/1942.

Sergeant Haville was killed when Handley Page Hampden I AT227 EQ-L of 408 (R.C.A.F) Squadron was lost on a 'Moling' daylight bombing mission, making use of cloud cover to attack various targets. The Hampden collided with a Luftwaffe Messerschmitt Bf-110 fighter some 30 miles north-west of Vlieland, crashing into the North Sea with the loss of all four of the Hampden's crew members, as well as the two Luftwaffe personnel aboard the Messerschmitt.
