George G.Y. Batey, 1st Batt. Lancashire Fusiliers Eldest son of the late Mr. James Batey and Mrs. Batey. His father was a Trustee, and filled many offices in connection with the Church and School. George Batey was severely wounded in action somewhere in Belgium. He died in hospital at Wimereux on 17th September 1918. 28 years of age.
He is remembered at Benwell on B86.15
