In Benwell (St.James) Churchyard is a family headstone for While which reads:

The Geordie at War Project states:

“The 14th Battalion were a Pioneer unit responsible for building works, repairing trenches and roads, etc. They were involved in erecting barbed wire defences near Voormezeele when Private While was killed.”
