In Benwell (St.James) Churchyard is a family headstone for Tweedy which reads:

In
Loving memory of
James
Beloved husband of
Ellen Tweedy of Scotswood
Who died January 27th 1922
Aged 59 years
Also their son Thomas
Who was killed in action
November 1st 1918 aged 25 years
Buried in Vichte Cemetery Belgium
Also Ellen widow of the above
Who died February 28th 1947
Aged 92 years.

The Geordie at War Project states:

These two documents are extracts from the History of 19th Northumberland Fusiliers. They show that Private Tweedy was killed by a German bomb dropped on his Company Mess just ten days before the end of the war.”
