F. Russell
Leicestershire Yeomanry
19th December 1917

The Geordie at War Project reports:

“The 2nd/1st Leicestershire Yeomanry Regiment was formed in September 1914 as a “second line” regiment. It was a training unit providing drafts for the units fighting in France.

The Regiment went through a number of changes in the course of the war and by mid 1917 they were a cyclist unit as part of the 12th Cyclist Brigade. The Regiment was based in Tonbridge and it was here that Private Russell died. The circumstances of his death are unclear."
