William was the son of William of Throckley and the late Mary Jane. He was the husband of Margaret Florence Isabel Jackson (formerly Simpson) of 1 Millfield Crescent, Newburn. He enlisted on 2nd September 1914 and served with 7th (Service) Battalion.
