In Newburn (St Michael) Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

Flight Lieutenant
G A Marshall
Pilot
Royal Air Force
8th November 1944, age 30

In the churchyard is a family headstone which reads:

Sacred to the memory of
George
beloved husband of
Priscilla Marshall
who died Nov. 12th 1938, aged 59 years
also Flight Lieut. George Austin Marshall R.A.F.V.R.
son of the above
killed in action Nov. 8th, 1944, aged 30 years
and of dearly beloved Priscilla Marshall
who died August 21st 1956, aged 74 years

George Austin was born on 24th June 1914, the son of George Henry (deceased) and Priscilla Bendelaw of 30 Northcote Avenue and the husband of Julie Marshall of 39 Broom Leys Avenue, Coalville, Leicestershire. He served with 264 Squadron based at RAF Predannack Airfield, Cornwall.
