In Wallsend Church Bank Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of T4/249464 Private Edward Young Mitchell, serving with the 3rd Reserve Horse Transport Depot who died 04/07/1918.

The family headstone reads:

In Loving Memory of
Edward Young Mitchell
youngest son of
Thomas & Hannah Mitchell
who died July 4th 1917 (sic) aged 21 years.
Also John Gray Mitchell their son
who died January 13th 1921 aged 28 years.
Also the above Thomas Mitchell,
who died December 18th 1926, aged 70 years.
