The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 22/11/1916 reports:

Soldier who has been four times wounded.

Decorated at Wallsend.

At a regimental parade on the Green, Wallsend, yesterday, Brigadier General Kelly pinned the D.C.M. on the breast of Company Sergeant Major J. Gould. Company Sergeant Major Gould, who has also been awarded the Military Medal for gallantry on the field, is a native of Burton-on-Trent. He went to France in September, 1914, and has been four times wounded.
