In Warloy-Baillon Communal Cemetery Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 601 Driver Francis William Kennedy serving with the Royal Engineers, who died 20/10/1918.

In Newcastle (St. John Westgate & Elswick) Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:

In affectionate remembrance of
Robert Kennedy
the dearly beloved husband
of
Isabella Kennedy
who died suddenly on Oct.
26th 1889,
aged 55 years,
deeply lamented,
also their son and daughter
Francis and Isabella
who died in childhood.
Francis W.
their youngest son
who died on active service
in France
on Oct.20th 1918, aged 40 years.
Robert their eldest son
who died on May 20th 1919,
aged 51 years.
Isabella, widow of above
died January 14th 1920, aged 83.
At rest.

Francis William was born at Newcastle upon Tyne, the son of Isabella and the late Robert. He was the husband of Sarah Jane (nee Tobias) whom he married in the second quarter of 1897. They lived at 41 Woodbine Avenue, Wallsend and they had 5 children (3 girls and 2 boys).

Prior to enlisting Francis worked as a ‘house joiner’ for a building company.
