He is named on the Roll of Honour in Freemasons' Hall, London, as being a member of 3679 Holy Cross Lodge.

He was born at Wallsend on Tyne and was a Provision Manager. He was Initiated on the 10th September 1913; Passed 8th October 1913 and Raised on the 12th November 1913. He enlisted at Wallsend on Tyne and died of wounds on the 20th September 1917 aged 33. His death was announced at a Lodge Meeting on the 10th October 1917. A Memorial Plaque containing the names of all Brethren of Wallsend Lodges who made the Supreme Sacrifice is to be found in the Lodge Room of Wallsend Masonic Hall. He is buried in Godewaersvelde British Cemetery, Nord, France, Grave Reference I.E.15.
