Osselton, I., A/Smn., 1915
On Chatham Naval Memorial is the name of Tyneside Z/802 Able Seaman Isaac Osselton, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 03/10/1915.

Colin Boyd has provided the following:

Isaac was born on 9th March 1892. He was working as a miner living with his parents, Frank and Cath at 9, Weir Street, Wallsend when he enlisted in the Royal Naval Division on 28th October 1914. This address was later changed to 12, Neptune Road, Wallsend.

He joined the 2nd Platoon, "C" Company of the Collingwood Battalion on 4th March 1915 and then transferred to the Anson Battalion on 8th June 1915.

Isaac was taken on board the Hospital Ship "Glenart Castle" off ANZAC Beach on 28th September 1915 suffering from a gun shot wound to the head which had fractured his skull causing brain damage. Isaac died on 3rd October 1915 and was buried at sea.
