Monteith, R.B., A/Smn., 1915
On the Helles Memorial is the name of KX/413 Able Seaman Robert Burns Monteith, serving with the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve who died 06/05/1915.

Colin Boyd has supplied the following:

Robert was born on 12th March 1896. He was working as a mechanic, living with his father, James at 28, Northumberland Street, Wallsend when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 3rd September 1914.

He transferred to the RNVR on 9th September 1914 and joined the Hood Battalion on the same day.

Robert was killed in action in Gallipoli on 6th May 1915.
