In Wallsend (Holy Cross) cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of D/X984E.B Engine Room Artificer 2nd Class William Walker serving with the Royal Navy who died 12/09/1942.

The headstone reads:

In
Loving memory of
William Walker, E.R.A., R.N.
died suddenly 12th Sept. 1942 aged 39 years.
Also his dearly loved wife
Norah Irene
died 25th May 1992 aged 88 years

At the going down of the sun, and in the
morning we shall remember.

William Walker is remembered in Willington Quay on W56.12 slide 33 and on our List of Ships’ crews
