In Wallsend (Holy Cross) cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:

N. Valoyiannis
Sailor
Royal Hellenic Navy
23rd November 1942.

This is followed by a quotation in Greek which translates as:''The entire earth is the sepulchre of famous men''. It is a phrase from the famous ''Funeral Oration'' by Pericles, as delivered to us by Thucydides in his account of the Peloponnesian War (431-404 BC).
