In Reichswald Forest War Cemetery is the name of 128509 Flying Officer (Navigator) Alan Cairns Palmer, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 03/04/1943.

He was a crew member of Lancaster III ED542 which took off from Syerston on a bombing mission to Essen. The aircraft is thought to have crashed killing all the crew. He was killed in the same incident as F/Off. J.W. Simpson
