He joined Westoe Secondary School in 1900, and followed his father and became a butcher on leaving school.
He resided at a few addresses in South Shields, in 1891, 47 Hudson Street, 1900 1911, 47/49 Hudson Street, and then in 1957, 41 Sunniside Drive.
He joined the Durham Light Infantry as a Private, but little else is known about him other than he died in South Shields on 11th August 1957.
