Howe, T., Pte. awarded M.M. 1920
The Newcastle Daily Journal 11/11/1920 reports:

"The first public duty of the newly appointed Mayor of South Shields (Coun. A.D. Johnston) was to present the Military Medal to Pte. T. Howe, Leicester Regiment, who resides at 27, Wellington Street. Pte. Howe gained his decoration for carrying rations to the front line under heavy fire on October 1, 1918. A few days afterwards he was wounded."
