Form, W., A/Cpl., 1916
In Cambrin Churchyard Extension is the Commonwealth War Grave of 4/8120 Corporal William Form, serving with the West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own) who died 22/12/1916.

Peter Hoy has submitted the following (his ref: 1712):

Acting Corporal William Form, 1/West Yorkshire Regt. (18 Brigade, 6th Division), (4/8120), KIA 22 December 1916, aged 21 or 22. Cambrin Churchyard Extension. S.44.

Second son of John Charles and Margaret Form of 10 Lord Street, Jarrow. [In 1911 his father, John Charles, was a 47-year old painter in a shipyard. He was born in Swansea. His mother, Margaret, was 39 and was born in Jarrow. They had been married for 20 years and had had ten children, nine still living.]

Siblings (1911 ages; all born in Jarrow): Charles (20), Mary (17), John (12), Joseph (9), Jane (8), Henry (5), James (2) and Annie (2 months).

Born in Wallsend. Enlisted and resided in Jarrow. He resided at 10 Lord Street, Jarrow (in 1911 and December 1916), and 52 Duke Street, Jarrow. A Regular Soldier (formerly a rivet-heater in a shipyard). Unmarried. He arrived at the Dardanelles on 2 September 1915 (1914-5 Star). He joined the army shortly before the outbreak of the war (‘Jarrow Express’: Friday 05/01/1917).

He is remembered in Jarrow on J2.22 and J2.41
