Son of the late John and Sarah Harkins, of Hebburn; husband of Mary Harkins, of 29, Whiteburn St., Hebburn.

John Harkins, was the son of John and Sarah Harkins of Hebburn. He attended St. Aloyius' R.C. School leaving in 1883.

He was husband of Mary Harkins of 29 Whiteburn Street, Hebburn.

John arrived in France on the 8th September 1914 and as such was awarded the 1914 'Mons Star'. He was also awarded the Silver War Badge and was discharged from the army on Medical Grounds.

He died on the 24th May 1920.

John Harkins is remembered at Hebburn on H93.40 and H93.45
