In Hebburn Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of:-

P. Kane
Royal Engineers
18th October 1916 Age 36

Patrick was the son of Thomas and Ellen Kane and resided at 175 Cuthbert Street, Hebburn.

His father was born in Co Galway, and was a 61 year old bricklayer's labourer in a steel works in 1911. His mother was also born in Galway and was 57 in 1911. They had been married for 40 years and had 4 children.

Michael aged 36, born in Galway was a confectioner. Ann aged 20 born in Jarrow and Lizzie aged 18 also born in Jarrow.

Patrick Kane was born in September 1888, and also enlisted in Jarrow. He attended St Aloysius R.C. School at Hebburn and was employed as a bricklayer in a steel works.

He arrived in France on the 19th September 1915.

Patrick died on the 18th October 1916 aged 36.

Patrick Kane is remembered at Hebburn on H93.40 and H93.45
