Eloph was born on 7th September 1895 and was working as a miner living with his parents, Raw and Emma at 53, Railway Street, Hebburn Colliery when he enlisted in the Northumberland Fusiliers on 5th September 1914.
He transferred to the RNVR on 9th September 1914. Eloph joined the Hood Battalion on the same day and served until he went sick on 6th November 1915 suffering from Dyspepsia.
He rejoined the Hood Battalion on 24th February 1916 and was invalided to the UK on 24th July 1916 suffering from gun shot wounds to the face and right arm.
Eloph joined the Hawke Battalion in France on 6th November 1916 and was invalided to the UK again on 18th November 1916 this time suffering from gun shot wounds to the back and left arm.
Eloph rejoined the Hawke Battalion on 7th April 1918 and was reported as killed in action on 25th August 1918.
