He was the son of Peter C. and Jane Ann Buddle, of Hebburn Colliery, Co. Durham.
In Hebburn Cemetery is a family headstone which reads:-
In
loving memory of
Jane Ann
the beloved wife of
Peter C. Buddle
of Hebburn Colliery
who departed this life Aug. 16th 1909
in her 57th year
Also Thomas son of the above
who was killed in action in France
Jan.15th 1916 aged 21 years
Also the above Peter C. Buddle
who died Jan. 19th 1924
aged 71 years
Shields Daily Gazette 04/02/1916, reporting on the unveiling of a Roll of Honour in Hebburn Colliery Primitive Methodist Church, (now lost) says:
"One of the young men has made the final sacrifice. This was Mr. Thomas Buddle, a son of Mr. P.C. Buddle, a well-known and much-esteemed tradesman at the colliery. Young Buddle fell only a few days before the Roll of Honour was unveiled".
Thomas Buddle is remembered at Hebburn on H93.24 and H93.41 and on the now-lost H93.55
