On the Loos Memorial is the name of 13676 Private Alexander Burrell, serving with the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards who died 29/09/1915.

Alexander Burrell was born at Haswell, Co Durham on the 2nd May 1894.

He was the son of John Richard Burrell, of 70 Victoria Street, Shotton Colliery, Co Durham, a miner, and his wife Isabella, daughter of William Keen of Haswell.

He enlisted at Sunderland on 14th November 1914 and was killed in action near Vermelles 29th September 1915. He was unmarried.
