Neilan, G.A., Lieut., 1916
In Glasnevin (or Prospect) Cemetery is the Commonwealth War Grave of Lieutenant Gerald Aloysius Neilan, serving with the Royal Dublin Fusiliers who died 24/04/1916.

The Newcastle Daily Chronicle 15/05/1916 carries this photo with the following:

"Killed in Irish Rebellion.
Lieut. Gerald A. Neilan, of the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, killed in the Irish rebellion, was a brother of Dr. J.A. Neilan, of New Seaham, and Dr. C.J. Neilan, of Seaham Harbour. He was 34 years of age.”

He is remembered at Seaham on S117.22
