In Holy Trinity Churchyard is the Commonwealth War Grave with a private headstone of 2217 Private Edward Liddle serving with the Northern Cyclist Battalion who died 02/01/1917.

Son of Mr and Mrs Liddle of 10 Vicarage Terrace, Murton, Co Durham.

The headstone reads:-

born Aug. 23rd 1855
died June 30th 1908
Also Pte. Edward Liddle
N.C. Batt. dear son of
Dorothy Ann and the above
James Liddle
who died Jan. 2nd 1917
aged 31 years
Also Dorothy Ann Liddle
who died Sept. 5th 1937
aged 77 years
