The Auckland and County Chronicle 10/06/1920 reports:

Interment of an Ex-Soldier.

The remains of Mr. Ernest Henry Holland, an ex-soldier, were interred at Holy Trinity Churchyard on Thursday. The deceased, who was 32 years of age, served for 3½ years in the war, and was severely gassed. On being demobilised he recommenced work at the pit, but was taken ill and was sent to the hospital at Sunderland, where he died. The cortege was headed by the members of the Norman Robinson Lodge of the R.A.O.B. At the church the service was conducted by the Rev. G.W. Anson Firth, M.A., Vicar, and at the close of the service the Buffalo Order was read. The deceased leaves a widow and one child.
