In Desplanque Farm Cemetery, La Chapelle-d'Armentieres, is the Commonwealth War Grave of 13599 Private John William Davies, serving with the Yorkshire Regiment who died 13/10/1915.

The County Gazette 02/06/1916 includes the notice:
"Davies, J.W. of Haswell Plough, Private in 8th Yorkshire Regt., killed in action in October, 1915."

He is remembered at Haswell on H116.01
