Tindale, T.T., Pte., 1918
On the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France is the name of 36367 Private Thomas Turner Tindale serving with the 2nd Battalion, Durham Light Infantry who died 21/03/1918.

Stan Gray has submitted the following:-

Thomas Turner, born in 1893 was the son of Matthew and Mary A. Tindale of Station Road Hesleden. Matthew was a Contracting Cartman.

In 1911 Thomas, by then one of 12 children born to Matthew and Mary A., had joined his father as a Cartman.

Thomas enlisted at West Hartlepool in 1915 and was placed on the reserve list. He was mobilised 19th June 1916 and joined the Durham Light Infantry. Thomas' service records show that he was with the 10th and then 12th Battalion, at one point was attached to the 1st Australian Tunnelling Company and then finally the 2nd Battalion. He was wounded in 1917.

Thomas was posted as missing and was assumed to have been killed in action 21st March 1918.

Recipient of the British War Medal and Victory Medal.
