A stone vase reads:

Sgt. Roxby was serving with 578 Squadron. He was a crew member of Halifax III LK834 LE-E which left Burn on a mission to Bottrop. On the return in thick cloud, the aircraft collided with another, both aircraft landing near Goole. None survived.

Tony Hibberd has supplied photos of a memorial at the crash site at Balkholme, East Yorkshire.

Erected in 2006, it consists of a metal column surmounted by aircraft silhouettes, and has a plaque acknowledging the help received, and another listing the crewmen who died.
