On the Runnymede Memorial is the name of 1357702 Sergeant Stanley Bertram Bransby, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 25/05/1941.

The son of Allen and Annie Elydia Bransby of Stockton-on-Tees. A wireless operator on a Bristol Blenheim Mk IV R2791 XD-O based at RAF Horsham St. Faith. He was part of a squadron mission to attack shipping off Texel Island, Netherlands. They encountered serious flak from what turned out to be a German flak ship Sperrbrecher 33/Silvia (1049 tons).The Blenheim bomber was seriously hit and crashed as a ball of fire into the engine room of the Sperrbrecher 33/Silvia. He died on the 25th May 1941 and is Remembered on the Runnymede Memorial, Surrey, Panel 40. He is Remembered on a stained glass window in St. George’s Presbyterian Church, Stockton.

He is remembered in Stockton on S138.09 the name “S.G. Bransby” appears on S138.52
