Taylor, A.D., Sgt., 1943
On the Alamein Memorial is the name of 1130724 Sergeant Arthur Dix Taylor, serving with the Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve who died 25/08/1943.

Simon Glancey has submitted the following:

Sgt. Taylor was killed when Vickers Wellington X HE598 'U' of 104 Squadron was lost on a mission to attack marshalling yards at Torre Annunziate, some 10 miles south east of Naples. The Squadron O.R.B. (Operational Record Book) states that the Wellington was 'missing from operations, believed to have been shot down over the target.' All five crew members were killed.

Also killed in the same incident was Sgt. John Snowden

Arthur Dix Taylor is remembered in Billingham on B139.05 and B139.09
