Sgt. Durrant was killed when North American Mitchell II FR365 of 111 O.T.U. (Operational Training Unit) was lost on a training mission, The Mitchell, based at Nassau, the Bahamas, was taking part in a navigation exercise, but failed to return. All seven crew members were killed.
